Uncle Rodney

It was our great delight to have Uncle Rodney visit us at the beginning of the month. (In case you're wondering about the picture above it is of Leslie and Rod enjoying smores.) Rod has been one of my best friends for the last 24 years including being my best man and yaca (Fijian term for namesake) to Skyler.

We have a lot of memories of doing many things, from camp work in NH to his 5 month stay with us in Fiji. This was his first time across the Atlantic and we are so grateful for him and the new experiences he brought to us during this visit. His first week was the opportunity to see some of our ministries here. He even joined us for a volleyball tournament with about 6 of our sister churches in the area. It was a lot of fun and a great time to meet more people from the other fellowships.

He even had the opportunity to experience some unique opportunities such as petting lions and giraffes.

Then we were able to get away for a few days and let him see some of this beautiful country. Here we are at the Pinnacle, a beautiful stand of rock in the midst of a deep valley in the Blyde River Canyon, and at the Berlin Falls.

Here we are at the 3 Rondavels in the same canyon next to a beautiful dam.

I write all of this because if you ever have a friend like Rod you will be blessed indeed. Proverbs 18:24 refers to a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and I have the joy of experiencing this type of friendship. I pray that you will as well. Thanks for a wonderful visit Uncle Rodney!!
