God's Amazing Story

Many times on the deputation trail I am asked how it feels to "sell yourself." I too once viewed deputation in this light--it was an uncomfortable time where I felt that I had to outsell the competition for the little bit of money that might be available. I praise the Lord that I can now boldly answer the salesman question by sharing what both my wife and I believe is the biblical perspective. We do not sell ourselves to any church, organization or person. What we do is to share our ministry and vision and ask people to prayerfully consider whether or not God would have them partner with us in this ministry in South Africa. Our focus has to be on ministry, not gaining or missing out on support. We believe that God will raise up around us the prayer, financial and care support that we need. In His time and in His way, He will provide for us to serve Him in Joburg.

It is always an amazing story to relate how God does actually provide for us. I want to introduce you to my little lady friend named Kaitlyn and her wonderful story. I met Kaitlyn and her sister Johanna on my trip to San Francisco. I had a wonderful visit with her family and during that time I learned that Kaitlyn just loved lions, and so I sent her a thank you note with a lion on it. Unfortunately, that card was lost, and so I sent her another one with many pictures of lions. I just received a note from her, and I want to share it with you so that you can see how God raises up partners for us. Here is 6 year old Kaitlyn's note and the translation from her dad. I hope it blesses your heart like it does mine!!

Dear Uncle Brent
du you no hw mash mane i am giving you if you dot I wil tal you. I am giving you 14 and ashta Love Kaitlyn

Translation:
Do you know how much money I am giving you? If you don't I will tell you. I am giving you $14 and extra.

Her dad wrote that she opened her own bank to help us get to South Africa, so we can tell people about Jesus. It reminds me of the widow's mite, and I am awed by the sacrifice. Please pray that our family would see fruit in South Africa worthy of such an incredible sacrifice, and that is all because of the incredible sacrifice of Jesus on the behalf of the world.
